Deputy Commissioner (DC) and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today reviewed the arrangements being put in place by the District Administration for the inter-school tournament under the banner Kargil School Olympics to be held in the district from 27th to 30th September, 2019.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Sonam Chosjor, Chief Executive Officer Kargil Development Authority (KDA) Kargil Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, I&FC, Mechanical, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil, representatives of ICICI Bank Kargil besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of meeting, the Deputy Commissioner inquired from the officers of the various committees including the Planning and Coordination, Registration, Design and Publicity, Venue Identification and Preparation, Transportation, Boarding and Lodging, Preparation of Fixtures, Results and Prize Distribution Committee about the preparations made so far.
The DC instructed the officers concerned to ensure the preparation of banners and other publicity materials by 20th September 2019 so that necessary publicity of the event is made well before the event.
Choudhary also stressed officers to carry out the remaining maintenance works at all designated venues including Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium and Indoor Stadium Kargil where most of the sporting events would be held.
As regards the arrangements of boarding and lodging and to and fro transportation for around 1000 school students from different parts of the district participating in the school Olympics, the DC asked the officers of the Boarding and Lodging and Transportation Committee to chalk out the accommodation and transport plan and submit the details to his office at the earliest.
The DC also instructed the officers to ensure proper sanitation and healthcare facilities for the participating players at all outdoor and indoor games venues as well as the accommodation locations.
Various other arrangements like to and fro transportation of children from different locations to the district headquarters, provision of uninterrupted power and water supply, deployment of officials and volunteers and other related issues also came up for thorough discussion during the meeting.
The DC instructed the officers of various committees to work in tandem and close coordination to ensure that all the remaining preparations are put in place well in time so that the School Olympics is conducted in a smooth and successful manner.
