Deputy Commissioner Rohit Khajuria today reviewed the availability of ration, supply of LPG and other essential commodities in the district Samba here at a meeting of officers and officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology departments.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Gupta, Assistant Director FCS&CA Dawinder Bilawaria, Assistant director food safety, AD Legal metrology and other officers.Deputy Commissioner was appraised the status of availability of food grains. Assistant director FCS&CA informed that of food grains are available grain at all designated ration depots. He also said there is sufficient LPG supply in the district.
The DC directed the concerned to enforce proper maintenance of register by fair price shops, mentioning ration card number, name of rationee, sign/thumb impression and quantity of ration received and provided to the rationees. He also called for facilitating sale of ration through POS devices.
He further directed for timely opening and closing of fair price shops, which include 10am to 4pm for government FPSs and 2pm to 7pm, besides 10am to 1pm on Sundays for private FPS. The DC also sought filing of weekly action taken report in his office.
Calling for further improvement in home delivery, the DC asked representatives of Oil Companies to evolve effective mechanism in consultation with LPG distributors to ensure availability of LPG to the consumers as per demand.
The Deputy Commissioner also enjoined upon designated committee to keep check on rates, black marketing, cleanness, hygiene and quality at establishments selling cooked food and sweets. “The committee comprising Tehsildar, Officers from food and civil supplies, legal metrology, police and Civic bodies shall regularly inspect the market and book the erring traders under relevant sections of laws” he directed.
