Acting Swiftly on the request of Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra Deputy Commisioner Udhampur Ravinder Kumar immediately took a meeting of the concerned departments including Public Health Engineering (PHE), Police & Revenue,Traffic Department and the representatives of the Association in which the water crises in Katra Particularly due to stoppage of water supply point at Jhajjar River Udhampur District side due to the conflict between the parties managing the water supplying point to tankers was discussed in dedails.
Rakesh Wazir President HRAK while speaking on the occasion said that pilgrim season is at its peak at Katra and stoppage of tankers water supply point which used to give water to more than 150 tankers in a day has worsened the water supply situation at Katra and resulting thereof many Hotels and Guest houses have got closed due to that and whatever remaining are getting water at the exorbitant prices between 4000/-to 5000/- per tanker and requested for immediate intervention of the administration in this serious matter.
Shyam Lal Kesar chairman of the association too emphasised for intervention of district administrations of both the districts of Reasi & Udhampur and asked for making of water supply points to tankers by the administration itself which is not a big task and can be done within 2-3 days otherwise major water crisis which have started at Katra will worsen the situation further giving bad name to the administration and will effect Yatra in a big way as it had happened in Shimla.
The meeting among others was attended by Addl.Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal, Add.SP Faisal Qureshi, ARTO Kuldeep Singh, Tehsildar Udhampur Ved Parkash,Naib Tehsildar Vijay Kumar,P HE officials, Association representatives Sudershan Sharma, Neeraj Jamwal etc.
