DDC Chairman Jammu reviews execution of works under District Capex Budget

A meeting to review the execution of development works taken up under District CAPEX Budget 2024-25 was today chaired by Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Jammu, Bharat Bhushan.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman DDC Suraj Singh, DDC members, Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh and the officers from RDD, PHE, PWD, JPDCL and other line departments.
During the meeting, the Chairman stressed the need to accelerate expenditure and ensure timely completion of all targets allotted under the District CAPEX Budget.
He directed officials to actively involve DDC members in all developmental initiatives across the district.
In a key directive, it was emphasised that the names of respective DDC members must be inscribed on inauguration plates of works approved under the DDC Component. Similarly, the names of concerned MLAs and DDC members should be displayed on the inauguration plaques of projects sanctioned under the PRI & BDC components.
The Chairman lauded the efforts of the Jal Shakti Department in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Jammu district.
He advised DDC members to earmark at least ?50,000 per panchayat from their authorised funds for the repair of handpumps in their respective constituencies in the upcoming financial year. To enhance community participation, the Executive Engineers of the Jal Shakti Department were instructed to organise awareness programmes involving Paani Samitis in the concerned areas after the completion of JJM schemes, ensuring that completion certificates are obtained from these committees. During the deliberations, the officers highlighted the issue of pending treasury bills, which is hindering progress in achieving developmental milestones.
Taking note of these concerns, the council assured necessary action to expedite the clearance of pending payments.
The meeting concluded with a call for greater coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of developmental projects for the welfare of the public.
