A Prajapati Samaj Sammelan was held at Kathua in which Col (Retd.) Mahan Singh, DDC Chairp erson Kathua was the Chief Guest while Prem Nath Dogra, Gopal Mahajan and Braham Jyot were the Guests of Honour.
Bishan Dass, President of the Kumhar Samaj, people of community from District Jammu, Kathua, Samba and from Punjab marked their presence.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan Singh highlighted the role and contribution of Sant Goura Kumhar and Sant Ravi Dass.
Col Singh listed out benefits being given to OBC community by Government, especially after abrogation of Article 370.
He said that with 103rd Amendment of Constitution passed by Indian Parliament in Aug 2019, now all the 106 laws of Indian Union have become applicable to the people of J&K as UT which includes rules on benefit to other backward classes as well.
Col Singh hoped that the social issues concerning welfare of Prajapati Samaj discussed during the Sammelan will be useful for future betterment of community.
A memorandum highlighting community problems with Administration was handed over to DDC Chairman by Bishen Singh, President of the Samaj.
