DDC Ramban discusses modalities for early formation of FPOs, CBBOs

RAMBAN, AUG 17:
District Development Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan, today chaired a meeting of concerned departments to discuss early formation and promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Cluster Based Business Organisations (CBBOs) for facilitating direct benefit to the farming community of their produce.
The DDC stressed upon the officers for establishment of one FPO of adequate number of farmers in every agriculture and allied activity and added that NABARD will be providing financial assistance for registration and promotion of these FPOs.
The aim is to form societies called FPOs and CBBOs in the sectors to promote the intensive marketing, export and patenting of Walnut, Anardana, Honey and Raazma to double the income of their producers by 2022 as envisaged by the Prime Minister of India, the DDC added.
The DDC also directed the officers to involve PRIs, NGOs and SHGs already set up by NRLM in the district.
The DDM NABARD assured to provide training and awareness to the FPOs and added that the incentives will also be paid by NABARD.
After formation, these FPOs can be registered under companies’ act 2014, which will help in boosting the crop value of the farmers.
Among others, the meeting was attended by JD planning, Dr. Kasturi Lal; ACD, Zameer Ahmed Rishu; Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Lead District Manager and DDM NABARD.
