District Development Commissioner Samba, Rajesh Sharma conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects across District Samba, urging swift action to expedite progress. The meeting evaluated key project components, including tubewell drilling, procurement and installation of electro-mechanical equipment, construction of Overhead Tanks (OHTs), and the setup of filtration plants, with a focus on ensuring clean and reliable water access for all.
DDC emphasized the need for prompt completion of critical tasks, such as tubewell drilling, OHT construction, and pipe-laying activities. He underscored that timely project execution is vital to meet the district’s water access goals, directing contractors to accelerate their efforts. Notably, of the 130 JJM schemes planned for Samba, 73 have already reached completion, while an additional 33 schemes—with completion rates ranging from 51% to 99%—are on track for completion by the end of November 2024.
The DDC addressed on-site challenges involving National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) crossings, Army land crossings, and the allocation of OHT sites, instructing departments to resolve these issues on an urgent basis.
He further directed the immediate Har Ghar Jal (HGJ) certification of villages marked as 100% covered on the portal, ensuring transparency and accountability in reporting.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Champa Devi, SE Hydraulic Circle Jammu, XEN PHE Division, civil and mechanical AEEs, representatives from the third-party Quality Control Monitoring Agency, and contractors.
