President of the Dogra Sadar Sabha Th. G.S.Charak former minister, while addressing a press conference highlighted the issue of observing holiday on 23rd September to celebrate the birth anniversary of H.H Late Maharaja Hari Singh ji which is still hanging in fire even after the resolution was passed by the State legislative Council. He informed that the Sabha has constantly been taking up, this issue of declaring 23rd Sept. as a holiday from time to time and at different occasions & in this regard Sabha’s last year’s appeal had invoked tremendous response from the civil society, private schools, trade & business organizations whereby they celebrated the birthday of Lt.Maharaja Hari Singh ji, Even Jammu Bar Association High court J & K had also suspended their work on this day last year.
To give impetus to this cause, Sabha urged upon the civil society all the social, religious, trade & business organizations to be a part of the celebrations being held across the State this year also, so that the Govt. may understand the mood & voice of the people in support of declaring 23rd Sept. the birthday of HH Lt. Maharaja Hari Singh ji as holiday to pay tribute to such a reformer & great Maharaja of the state.
Expressing dismay over the attitude of State Govt. the Sabha members requested the governor Satya Pal Malik who is competent to consider this long pending demand which involves the sentiments of the whole Dogra race that comprising people from all religious sects, trades and walks of life; and urged that the day should be declared a holiday. He also declared that The DSS shall celebrate the day at the Sabha Bhawan at 9 AM on 23rd Sept 2018 where, Besides, the Havan/Pooja, light will be thrown on the life of 100 years of Dogra rule and the life of Maharaj Hari Singh ji.
Simultaneously the DSS appealed all educational institutions, market committees, unions and other organizations, to celebrate the day in their respective domains and hold talks on the life of the great Maharaja and the 100 years of Dogra rule elaborating the secularism, education, modernization, fairness and justice to one and all in this region known for peaceful co-existence and amicable hospitality.
The DSS under former minister Th. Gulchain Singh Charak also appreciated the government’s decision to hold elections to revive grass root level institutions thus boosting the basic ethos of democracy. He also admired the courage of those who are participating in the elections and called upon them to go all out whole heartedly and give a befitting reply to the forces inimical to democracy and are trying to stall/ discourage this basic democratic electoral process.
President DSS also expressed grief over the continued attacks on the security forces where terrorists have not even spared the family members and are daring to enter the houses to kill unarmed security men on leave. “This must stop and should be dealt with iron hands”, said some members.
