Deepika Padukone quits MAMI chairperson position, releases a press statement stating reasons

It was 2019 when Deepika Padukone was appointed as the chairperson of MAMI (Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image) but now, the actress has quit her position while stating the major reasons behind her resignation. Well, she replaced filmmaker Kiran Rao back in 2019. Juggling with several projects, Deepika decided to depart from her duties and responsibilities from the given profile.Deepika Padukone shared a press statement on the Instagram story in which she penned the reason behind her resignation from the designation of MAMI Chairperson. She wrote, ”Being on the board of MAMI and serving as Chairperson has been a deeply enriching experience. As an artist, it was invigorating to bring together cinema and talent from all over the world to Mumbai, my second home.’ She further added, ”I have come to realise, however, that with my current slate of work, I will be unable to give MAMI the undivided focus and attention it requires. I depart knowing that MAMI is in the best hands possible and that my bond and connection with the academy is one, that will last a lifetime.”On the work front, Deepika Padukone is shooting for her next action flick Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan and Shakun Batra’s untitled next. After wrapping up these projects, she will kick off Prabhas starrer untitled film. Apart from that she also has The Intern remake alongside Amitabh Bachchan.
