JAMMU, June 23:
Punjab wrestler Devinder and Benia Min of J&K Police shared the 114th Thial- Chougan Dangal title after their 21 minutes fight ended in a draw at Thial-Chougan in Block Khoon, tehsil in district Udhampur.
Both these wrestlers shared cash prize of Rs 1,11,000. In all, 49 bout played in this day-long thereby incurring an expense of Rs 3,50,000. Wrestling promoter, Bishan Dass Sharma contributed Rs. 51,000 as financial assistance to the organizers. Former MLA, R.S Pathania was chief guest in the main bout, who distributed cash prizes among the wrestlers. Former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council and president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function.
Senior BJP leader, Nand Kishore Sharma, Bishan Dass Sharma, National Conference leader, Raj Kishore, BDO Pritam Ram Sharma, SHO Bharat Sharma, Varinder Kumar Badyal, State president IHRC Youth skill and Sports and advocate, Amit Sharma were guests of honour. Subedar Chain Singh, Rajesh Kumar Sharma, (Raju) and Rattan Chand were among others present.Dangal was organized by Thial- Chougan Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Krishan Kumar (president), Kartar Chand Master (secretary) and Naib Sarpanch Kewal Kumar Sharma (vice president).
The second main bout between Subedav Aryan of Delhi and wrestler Rameshwar of Mathura (U.P) also ended in a draw resulting into both of them shared Rs 41,000. The third main bout won by Nisar of Doda, defeated Kapil of Hanuman Akhara Delhi.
Members and technical officials who helped for the conduct of this one day long wrestling event included, Kuldeep Singh (cashier), Tilak Raj Sharma, Sohan Lal Sharma, Madan Gopal, Bishan Dass, Nirmal Kesar, Ajit kumar Krishan Chand, Hazi Mohd Din, Mohd Maqbod, Sham Lal Sharma, Om Parkash Verma, Sat Paul Verma, Mohd Fareed and Lochan Singh.
