Chairman of the J&K Rifle Shooting Association and Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, Dilbag Singh declared open the 9th State Shooting Chamionship at DPS shooting range, here today amidst cultural programme and interaction with the participants.
The opening day witnessed preliminary round of the competition soon after the initial process of entries and draws completed by the technical penal set up for the competition. A couple of senior citizens are also taking part in the competition this time, including Director Sports of the SMVDSB, Ashok Kumar.
The chief guest was accompanied by chairman trustee of the DPS Jammu and former Minister, MK Ajatshatru Singh, Trustee Maharaja Hari Singh Social and Educational Society, Ranvijay Singh, president of the Association, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Director DPS School, SS Sodhi.
The distinguished gathering of participants, office bearers of the State Association and affiliated district unites as also the clubs were welcomed by the Kuldeep Singh Jamwal. He informed that the participating shooters shall compete in the age groups of under-15, under-18, under-21 and open categories during the four days event.
Speaking to the gathering, the DGP expressed his happiness over the growing interest for the game of shooting in J&K and appreciated the management of DPS Jammu for the support to the Association during all these years.
He also felicitated meritorious alumni and shooters of DPS Jammu along with all members of J&K Rifle Association. He further lauded the efforts of the school administration for setting up and putting to effective use of the very first private shooting range at DPS Jammu and advised the fast paced young generation to remain connected to their roots and avoid overuse of social media.
The vote of thanks presented by Ajatshatru Singh, who promised the participants and the association improved facilities and successful conduct of the event at the DPS Jammu.
General secretary of the Association, Amjad Parvez Mirza, chairman-Advisory Committee, Jaipal Singh, members of Advisory Committee, V S Pathania and Samar Dev Singh, chairman-Technical Committee, Rajesh Virdhy and members, Vijay Kumar, Jagdish Singh, Tarun Dev Singh, Vishal Mehra and Deepika Jamwal were among others present.
