:Parkash Diwas (Birth Anniversary) of Sixth Guru of Sikh Community, Guru Hargobind Sahib was celebrated by District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu today at Gurdwara Chhati Patshahi, Talab Tillo, Jammu with the cooperation of Sikh Sangat and all the Sikh organisationsin which large number of Sikh sangat and other devotees participated with religious fervour and enthusiasm. Prominent Sikh preachers Bhai Sarabjit Singh Dhotian and Bhai Parampal Singh Sabra threw light on the life history and teachings of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the only son of Guru Arjan Sahib, who became Guru at the young age of eleven.
The brutal torture and execution of the peaceful and sanity Guru Arjan Dev necessitated that the Sikh adopt a military tradition in order to face the brutal Mughals and resist all sorts of persecution. Sikh preachers while eleborating on the concept of Miri-Piri, said that Guru Hargobind Sahib adopted two swords, one representing Temporal (Miri) Power and other Spiritual Power (Piri) and emphasized a great deal on physical and military training of the Sikhs. Guru Hargobind Sahib also built Sri Akal Takht Sahib, as highes religious and temporal authority of Sikhs. Through his Miri-Piri concept and strong determination, Guru Hargobind Sahib instilled in his followers a will to fight against evil in order to defend their rights. During his leadership. the Sikh community not only grew in numbers but also emerged as a separate entity within the Mughal empire. Due to great contributions to Sikhism, Guru Hargobind Sahib earned the title of Saccha Padshah (True Emperor).
Dera nagali sahib mahant manjit singh ji , Sant Tejwant Singh Ji of Santpora Danna, Sikh Preacher of Jammu & Kashmir also eleborated on the life and achievements of Guru Hargobind Sahib and stressed for Amritdhari and drugs free society. Hazoori Raagi Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Amritsar Sahib, Bhai Devinder Singh Ji and many local Raagi Jathas of DGPC recited Gurbani Kirtan. S. Avtar Singh Khalsa, General Secretary, DGPC Jammu, who conducted the proceedings of the Stage and organised entire programme, stressed for unity and discipline for jointly celebrating all Gurupurabs and other historical days.
On this occasion Jathedar Mohinder Singh, President, Shiromani Akail Dal (Badal) and Member DGPC Jammu presented resolutions concerning various burning demands of Sikh Community in J&K. S. Tarlochan Singh Wazir, Chairman, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board while addressing the gathering, congratulated Sikh community on this occasion and also appealed to follow the teachings of Guru Hargobind Sahib and also spoke in support of resolutions. He said Sikh community is being discriminated in every field of life and stressed for unity of Sikh community at all levels. On this occasion Guru ka Langar was also served and various stalls were also there for literature and Sikh history.
Other prominent Sikh leaders and members DGPC, present on the occasion were Advocate Surinder Singh, Surjit Singh, Bhai Gurdev Singh, S. Manmohan Singh, S. Kuldeep Singh, S. Mohinder Singh-Akhnoor, S. Harjinder Singh Raina, S. Narinder Singh Khalsa, S. Balwant Singh, S. Ranjodh SIngh Nalwa, Com. Sukhdev Singh, S. Ranjit Singh and S. Manjit Singh. Lastly S. Jagjit Singh, President DGPC Jammu.
