UDHAMPUR, FEB 17:
With a view to generate awareness about the increasing pollution among the students, the District Information Center Udhampur today organised a Symposium on the topic “Pollution” in the premises of Govt Middle School, Shakti Nagar, Udhampur, here today.
Headmistress of the host school Ms. Archana Sharma was the chief guest.
As many as 9 students of the school participated in the contest and highlighted the causes and effects of different types of pollution on the environment including humans.
Shipali of Class 7th bagged first position in the competition while Roshni Devi of class 7th and Atul Kumar of class 8th stood 2nd and 3rd respectively. Nisha Devi of class 6th and Komal Kour were felicitated with consolation prizes.
The chief guest Ms. Archana Sharma, also threw light on the various causes of pollution and asked the students to generate awareness among the common masses in this regard.
She also informed the students about different ways to prevent further increase in the pollution level.
Besides this, she also appreciated the role of Information Department in organizing such type of awareness programmes . She further urged the department to organize more such programmes in the near future also.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes and certificates among the participants of the contest.
Sarla Rani, Rimpy Gupta and Pallavi Prasher acted as judges while Suresh Kumar conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Among others, staff members and students were present on the occasion.
