Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that the party will respect veteran and young leaders of the party alike and that it will allow different views to emerge. He was speaking at the Jan Akrosh public rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
“I am the president and want to tell you that whether you are youth or an elder, you will be respected. If someone doesn’t do that, I will take action” he said.
He was referring to the remarks of senior party leader Salman Khurshid, who had recently said that there were Muslims’ blood stains on the hands of the Congress. The party had distanced itself from Mr. Khurshid’s views.
“In our party, there are different views. Salman Khurshid is sitting here. I will protect Mr. Khurshid’s views. I will encourage different views,” he said.
