Dilbagh Singh-IPS, Director General of Police, Prisons, J&K assumed the charge as Director Fire & Emergency Services on July 4th, 2018 and visited the Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters Srinagar today on 06th July, 2018 and met all the Command Officers. He had a darbar and interaction session with the officers and other ranks of Fire and Emergency Services wherein Command Officer of Kashmir Range were also present.
During the Darbar he complimented the Service personnel for the good work done by them during the recent flood situation where dewatering was conducted at a large scale in which large number of Fire Tenders and Portable Pumps were deployed and dewatering was done in various low lying inundated areas of the valley. He also complimented the officers and officials for the good work done by them on various fire contingencies and rescue operations, despite all odds. Fire & Emergency Drill was exhibited wherein one hydraulic platform, three Fire Tenders and one Emergency Rescue tender participated along-with crew. He expressed satisfaction over the response time and conduct of the exercise.
The DGP also visited the Regional Workshop of Fire & Emergency Services to assess skill level and facilities available for keeping the fleet operational and in good working order. General area and premises were also visited and directions were given on spot for overall cleanliness of the area.
The Welfare Centre and Medical Unit was also visited and the staff posted were given directions for proper use and maintenance of resources/ medicines for welfare of the Service personnel. He also reviewed the working of the department with the Command Officers who briefed them regarding their areas and explained how well equipped they were to deal with Fire and Emergencies. Shortfalls in terms of manpower and equipment were noted and steps would be taken on war footing basis to attend to the deficiencies so that the working of the organization could be made more effective and efficient.
He impressed upon the officers to continue the good work done by them and the service personnel under their command and assured all assistance from the Directorate. He also conveyed the compliments from Advisor Home, Shri K. Vijay Kumar who is very keen in strengthening the Fire & Emergency Services Department and its capabilities to deliver better services to the people.
