Director Agriculture Jammu visits newly Strengthened Demonstration cum Training Centre

Director Agriculture Jammu, Sh Arvinder Singh Reen, today visited the recently enhanced Demonstration Cum Training Centre at the Apiculture Development Scheme, Krishi Bhawan Jammu. The upgraded center showcases significant improvements, including a modern training hall, a vibrant bee flora garden, a well-equipped bee apiary, and a state-of-the-art honey processing unit.
Expressing his satisfaction with the efforts invested in strengthening the Demonstration Cum Training Centre, Director Agriculture emphasized the pivotal role this facility will play in advancing apiculture in the region. He underscored its significance in providing comprehensive training and support to beekeepers, further reiterating the Department’s unwavering commit ment to fostering the growth and prosperity of the apiculture industry in Jammu.
Director also visited the mini testing laboratory for honey and certification established under HADP aimed at assisting beekeepers. He highlighted the importance of such facilities in ensuring quality control and certification processes, thereby enhancing the marketability of honey products from the region.
Director Agriculture Jammu shared ambitious targets for the upcoming year, stating that with the aid of training initiatives and the testing laboratory, the Department aims to increase honey production from 7000 quintals to 16000 quintals this year, thereby significantly contributing to the economic development of Jammu and empowering local beekeepers.
Director Agriculture Jammu emphasized that the training programs conducted at the center will empower farmers with the latest techniques and advancements in honey production. Farmers will be educated about various aspects including pollen collection, bee wax extraction, and other vital practices crucial for enhancing honey production and quality.
Asstt. Entomologist Sh Rajesh Verma provided detailed insights into the enhancements made at the DCTC, elucidating on the strides taken to fortify its infrastructure and offerings. Joining the Director during the visit were esteemed dignitaries including Jt. Dir. Agri Ext. Sh Satish Sharma, Liaison Officers Dr Ashwani Sharma, Sh Dharmesh Vaid,CAO Jammu, Sh. V.K Kundal, DSSO Sh. Suresh Khajuria, Agronomist Sh. Vikas Padha, and other notable officers, reflecting the collaborative efforts towards the advancement of agriculture and allied sectors in Jammu.
