The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited different areas of Pulwama district including Kakpora, Tral, Noorpora, Dadsar, Padgampora, etc and took stock of the agriculture scenario in the district.
He also inaugurated hi-tech polyhouses under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) at Kakpora.
While expressing his views on the occasion, Director Agriculture marked the importance of hi-tech polyhouse technology.
He said this technology has transformed the agriculture scenario in the region, and the hi-tech polyhouses provided to the farmers by the department are becoming success stories.
Director said that the good results coming out of these hi-tech poly houses help us attract young educated farmers towards this technology. He said that the department has established polyhouses in all the districts of Kashmir.
Iqbal said that the most important characteristic of polyhouse technology, enabling round the year vegetable production is making it popular among the farming community, agri-entrepreneurs of the region. Under HADP special attention has been given to boost this technology, he added.
Director also underlined the importance of integrated farming and asked the farmers to diversify their agricultural activities.
He asked the farmers that the department would provide all the technical guidance to the farmers in comprehensively performing their agriculture operations.
Later, the Director inspected different offices of the department and checked the punctuality of staff. He asked the concerned officers to ensure that all the set targets under different projects of (HADP) are achieved in stipulated time frame.
