A meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh to discuss strategies for strengthening the cooperative movement in Udhampur district and enhancing its outreach to the grassroots level.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Registrar Cooperative Nishtha Nayyar, officers from across line departments and officials from banks.
At the outset, the Deputy Registrar briefed the chair about the ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector in the district. She further informed about awareness programs recently organized by the department to promote cooperative societies and their benefits.
The ADDC emphasised the need for greater collaboration among the Cooperative Department and line departments to effectively conduct awareness programs.
A detailed discussion was held on formulating a comprehensive calendar of activities for the Cooperative Department, ensuring a structured approach to promoting the cooperative movement.
The ADDC also stressed the importance of renewal of non-operational cooperatives by identifying and addressing existing bottlenecks. He directed the concerned officers to take necessary steps to revitalize such cooperatives and enhance their efficiency for the benefit of local communities.
