Distt Adm Samba formally hands over encumbrance free land for AIIMS

SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 15: Samba District Administration today formally handed over encumbrance free land, for setting up of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), to the Health and Medical Education department in a brief function at the AIIMS site for its further transfer to the CPWD, which is the project execution agency.

ADC Samba, Dr Arun Manhas,   Sub Divisional Magistrate Vijaypur, Vijay Kumar, Nodal Officer AIIMS, CMO Samba, Executive Engineer CPWD, Tehsildar Vijaypur and other revenue and CPWD officials were present on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sushma Chauhan informed that on the directions of the State government, the Samba administration was tasked to ensure early start of the work on the prestigious project

She said that the arduous task of clearing the proposed AIIMS site at Vijaypur, District Samba, free of encumbrances and Rehabilitation of nomadic families at the proposed designated site has been completed successfully and peacefully.

 The DC further informed that the task was taken up on mission mode with effect from July 20, 2018 and the same got concluded due to complete confidence and support of higher authorities and dedication of the district officers.

The DC said that the challenge before the District Administration was that of rehabilitation and peaceful resettling of the nomadic families. Now, that the rehabilitation of displaced nomadic families has almost been completed, the District Administration Samba is focusing on providing basic facilities to the resettled families at the new site, she added.

“The team of officers made a synergised effort to ensure the completion of rehabilitation of nomadic families in a time bound manner and to the satisfaction of these families. Every officer involved with the process of shifting and rehabilitation deserves accolades,” the DC maintained.

The DC appreciated the efforts of ADC Samba, SDM, Vijaypur and all the Revenue Officers involved in the process of clearing the bottlenecks in the project.

The DC also thanked the Advisor (Health and Medical Education), Chief Secretary, J&K, Principal Secretary, Planning and development, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, IGP, Jammu for guiding and extending full support to the Samba administration. She further thanked the incumbent and former SSP, Samba for extending cooperation in the said task.

It was informed that a total of 1954 kanals and 6 marlas of land has been acquired for establishment of AIIMS. Of this, 747 kanals of land is on the northern side i.e. left side of Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and 1207 kanals and 6 marlas on southern side i.e., right side of the highway. The construction of AIIMS boundary wall is already underway and the work on the boundary wall on the Northern side has been completed up to 710 mtr and on the Southern side; it has been completed up to 1800 mtr.
