Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review overall development scenario of Budgam and various directions issued by the Governor during his recent visit to the district.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar briefed the Div Com about the overall development scenario and various bottlenecks that require the intervention of divisional administration for carrying out work smoothly on development projects.
An in-depth review of CSS schemes being executed under CRF and NABARD schemes of R&B, PMGSY, I&FC, PHE, PDD,PMGSY, RDD, SBM, Health, and Education was also undertaken in the meeting.
On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioner to hold separate meetings with various departments to expedite land acquisition process for development projects.
Further, he urged the engineering wings to redouble their efforts and ensure implementation of projects within set timelines. He directed the Deputy Commissioner to issue a circular with regard to shifting/ creation of utilities so that all the engineering wings work in unison and durability of assets created is not affected due to lack of coordination and thereby also avoiding double expenditure.
The meeting was informed that under CRF, six projects including five roads and one bridge at a total cost of Rs. 94.31 crore with a target of 76.25 km was being implemented and out of which 25 km macadamization has been achieved and 10 km has been completed under Grade II and 47.5km is expected to be completed under BT.
Taking an in-depth review of PMGSY, the meeting was informed that 80 out of 97 works have been completed under phase III to Phase X. The Divisional Commissioner directed for verification and submission of utilization certificates under the CRF scheme. With regard to ICDS, distribution of books in schools and mid-day meal schemes, he directed constitution of committees that would ensure fidelity and submit fortnightly reports.
Taking a review of schemes under RDD, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned to ensure that there is no duplicity with regard to identification of beneficiaries under PMAY and to implement MGNREGA on convergence model so that the demand-driven nature of the scheme can be leveraged to address infrastructure deficit.
