Dogri Sanstha Jammu released a dogribook of collection of short stories ‘Rangkar’ authored by Jagdeep Dubey in a function in which Khalid Hussain, a well known Punjabi writer, was the Chief Guest. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn was the Guest of Honour on this occasion where writers and theatre artists fromJammu and Udhampur were present in a large number.
The released book was third book of short stories by Dubey who has by now penned down six books in all which include full length stage plays, radio plays and a poetry book. The highlight of the function was the recital of one of the short stories from the released book by the author himself.
Ashutosh Prashar presented a Paper on critical appreciation of the stories in the collection which exhibited the scholarly approach and deep understanding of the Paper writer. He made certain profound observations on the merit of the stories which he backed up by his logical analysis and arguments.
Khalid Hussain, himself a prominent Punjabi short story writer of the subcontinent, while speaking on the occasion appreciated Dubey for his unique style of writing, which has enriched corpus of Dogri literature immensely.
He said that Dubey picks up themes of his stories from life around him but his sensitive handling of the subject and lyrical language, increase the quality and impact of his stories manifold. He said that in Dubey Dogri is blessed with an outstanding story teller whose stories will set benchmark for future.
Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, who was presiding over the function, observed that Jagdeep Dubey has evolved his peculiar and distinct style of story telling over the span of last few years. The strength of his stories is the usage of poetic imagination and expression in enhancing the intensity of the stories. This sets him apart from all other short story writers in Dogri.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn elaborated on the dramatic element in the short stories contained in the released book.
He said Dubey being a playwright and a man of theatre has a knack to add some dramatic element, even in stories which pertain to normal day-to-day happenings. He added that one thing that stands out in all the stories of Dubey is the element of humanism, which is the outstanding quality of his stories.
Earlier, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, General Secretary of the Sanstha while welcoming the audience, spoke on the literary merit of the book and importance of the occasion. He also conducted the programme in his inimitable style and manner. At conclusion of the programme, the vote of thanks was presented by Gianeshwar Sharma, Vice President of the Sanstha.
