Indian shooters made a powerful mark at the ISSF Junior World Championship 2024 on Sunday IST, clinching three medals at the prestigious event held at the Las Palmas Shooting Range in Lima.
The men’s and women’s 10m air pistol teams led India’s impressive haul, bagging gold medals in their respective categories.
In the women’s team event, Kanishka Dagar, Lakshita, and Anjali Chaudhary dominated the qualification round, shooting a combined total of 1708 to secure the top podium spot. They edged out Azerbaijan, which finished with a close 1707, while Ukraine claimed the bronze with 1704 points.
In addition to the team success, Kanak added to India’s medal tally with a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol individual final, becoming the first Indian shooter to win an individual medal at the Lima championship.
The ISSF Junior World Championship continues to see standout performances from India, underlining the country’s growing prominence in the world of shooting sports.
