In a press conference held at the BJP party office on the concluding day of Veer Bal Diwas, Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia, a senior leader, emphasized the unparalleled sacrifice of the Sahibzades, the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, in the name of Dharma. The week, observed as Rashtriya Diwas, paid tribute to the extraordinary valour of Baba Fateh Singh Ji (6 years old) and Baba Zorawar Singh Ji (9 years old), who were bricked alive at Sirhind for refusing forced religious conversion under the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.
Dr. Jasrotia highlighted that the sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who gave all four of his sons for the cause of humanity and righteousness, remains unmatched in history. “No other example exists where a father sacrifices his entire lineage to uphold the dignity and faith of others,” he said.
Advocate Purnima Sharma, BJP spokes person, added that the contributions of Mata Gujri, grandmother of the Sahibzades, also deserve equal reverence. “Her sacrifice, as a wife, mother, and grandmother, symbolizes resilience and devotion to Dharma. Her legacy, alongside Guru Tegh Bahadur and her grandsons, stands tall against Aurangzeb’s tyranny,” she said.
Dr. Jasrotia also elaborated on Sikhism’s integral role in protecting Dharma, mentioning how the eldest son of Hindu families was often dedicated to Sikhism as a symbol of their commitment to safeguarding righteousness.
The week-long observance was marked by educational and cultural initiatives nationwide. Over 15 lakh schools, 97 lakh teachers, 26.44 crore students, and 44,000 colleges and universities participated in events commemorating the Sahibzades’ martyrdom. Exhibitions showcasing their courage and sacrifice were also displayed at 137 airports, seven railway stations, 67 petrol pumps, and Indian embassies worldwide.
“This initiative by the BJP government ensures the global dissemination of the Sahibzades’ message of selflessness and sacrifice for humanity,” Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia stated.
Senior leader H.S. Pummy and BJP Minority Vice President Advocate Jasmeet Kour Pandey also attended the press conference. The leaders reiterated the BJP’s commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of the Sahibzades as a source of inspiration for generations to come.
Veer Bal Diwas, now observed globally, has become a platform to reflect on the values of courage, faith, and selflessness epitomized by the Sahibzades, ensuring their supreme sacrifice remains etched in the annals of history.
