Jammu, June 23:
Senior BJP leader Rekha Mahajan today said that the supreme sacrifice of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee continues to inspire generations to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and society. The senior BJP leader was speaking at the programme here today wherein she carried out a noble social initiative by distributing sanitary napkins among women belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, marking the Balidan Diwas (Martyrdom Day) of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the great nationalist leader who laid down his life for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. The event, organised as part of BJP’s ongoing Sewa, Sushashan and Garib Kalyan campaign, witnessed the active participation of local women and party workers. Rekha Mahajan interacted with the beneficiaries and emphasised the importance of menstrual hygiene and women’s health, particularly among underprivileged sections of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahajan said, “Dr Mookerjee’s supreme sacrifice for the nation inspires us to serve society in every possible way. Providing sanitary napkins may seem small, but it has a big impact on the dignity, health, and confidence of women. It is our responsibility to support the most vulnerable sections of our society, especially our women.”
She further added that such initiatives reflect the BJP’s commitment to social welfare and women’s empowerment, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Sewa, Sushashan and Garib Kalyan campaign.
Rekha Mahajan urged the women to be aware of personal hygiene and not consider menstruation a taboo. She also appealed to NGOs, community workers, and health authorities to conduct regular awareness drives on menstrual health in rural and urban slum areas.
The event concluded with a collective tribute to Dr S.P Mookerjee, remembering his unmatched contribution to the nation, and reaffirming the party’s resolve to follow his ideals through acts of meaningful social service.

Among those who were present included Vikas Sharma, Shivani Sharma, Madhu Sharma and others.
