Dr Salim-Ur- Rehman Delivers Lecture on Health Services during Disaster at JU

Dr Salim-Ur-Rehman, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K who was formally also posted as Director General, Health Services, J&K today delivered a lecture on the topic ” Health Services During Disaster” at University of Jammu. Dr Salim was speaking at the UGC-National Level Course on Disaster Management for University and College teachers being organised by Human Resource Centre,JU. Dr Salim in his detailed powerpoint presentation on 2014 Kashmir floods threw light as to how the Heath Department in coordination with various government agencies and NGO’s faced up the challenge during those testing times.
Dr Rehman quoted many examples of selfless service rendered by the employees and Doctors of Health Department to mitigate the suffering of the common man. ” The Government of India was very generous with the medical supplies and core team of doctors and paramedics and we worked in close coordination with all the agencies to provide quick response medical treatment to the patients. ” said Dr Rehman.
Dr Salim later in a meeting with Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, UNiversity of Jammu suggested that the University students and faculty members be trained in basic CPR and other life saving procedures which was readily agreed upon by the Vice-Chancellor. University shall soon initiate a process of sensitizing the students on basic human life saving procedures.
Dr Salim-ur-Rehman was also honoured on the occasion for his exemplary services to the society.
Among others Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Course Coordinator, Prof Rahul Gupta, Director, HRDC and Ranjeet Kalra, teaching faculty, Ginny Dogra, Deputy Director, DIQA and Dr Vivek Sharma were also present on the occasion.
