All Jammu and Kashmir Oil & LPG Tank Truck Drivers and Cleaner’ Union today convened a Pre-election meeting here at union office to assess the overall situation to conduct union elections under the chairmanship of its president S. Ranjit Singh Raina. In the meeting, the Union Election Committee briefed the president and other senior functionaries of the union including S. Davinder Singh, General Secretary, S. Harasis Singh, Special Invitee, Amrik Singh and Ramesh Kumar members of the union.
In the meeting, the members also expressed their concern about frequent closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway that has caused delay in Union Elections as most of their members, drivers and cleaners remain stuck in these road blockade at National Highway.
The meeting also discussed issue of new membership cards, drafting of electoral rolls, weeding out of deceased voters and adding new members in the voting list.
The President appealed the Union Election Committee to expedite the whole process of conducing elections in fair and transparent manner and addressing all the issues raised by bonafide members of the Union.
He also appealed all the members of the union to get their membership cards renewed at an earliest and avail new smart membership cards to cast their votes and participate in the upcoming elections as per the latest amendments in the constitution and byelaws of the union approved by the competent authority. The next meeting of the Union shall be held within a fortnight for final decision on elections.
