Drug menace gives rise to criminal activities: Namrta

Provincial President, Women Wing, Jammu, Namrta Sharma today urged the police department to tighten the grid against the spread of drug menace which has given rise to criminal activities and created a difficult situation for the women in particular.
While addressing a public meeting at Model Town, Diagana in Gandhi Nagar Constituency in which a large number of women were present, Namrta said that the drug menace has increased among the youth and it should be curbed by the police by involving members of civil society as they have an important role to play at home and in society. In this public meeting, Namrta said, people have complained about increased drug menace and they have also demanded police patrolling to get rid of the menace which has multiplied problems for the society.
It has become a social stigma in the society which requires immediate steps to control the menace,” said Namrta. On this occasion, a large number of women joined the Apni Party. Senior women leaders of Apni Party, Pavneet Kour, Sarabjeet Kour were among the participants in the meeting. Welcoming the entrants into the party, Namrta said that the incidents of chain snatching and theft are allegedly linked with the drug menace and they should be checked and the addicted youth should be counselled.
Meanwhile, Namrta said that the locals have serious concern over the stinking nallah at Model Town and they have demanded that it should be desilted and widening work should be taken up by the concerned authorities.
Namrta said that the irregular drinking water supply and unscheduled power cuts have added to the problems of the people which should be resolved by the respective departments at the earliest.
Namrta said that Apni Party is committed for the welfare of the people and assured the people that their issues will be highlighted before the concerned authorities for redressal.
