The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) today launched its annual calendar of activities with inter-school (indoor events) competition of Jammu district at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
In first such activity, the DYSS district Jammu held competition in the disciplines of Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Speedball, Rifle Shooting and Weightlifting in twin age groups of under-14 and under-17.
As per a handout issued by the DYSS, around 1500 boys drawn from 14 zones of Jammu district are taking part in these events. Earlier, the competition declared open by district officer DYSS, Chanchal Kour.
CARROM: The opening day witnessed Raman Kumar of GGHS Sohanjana winning the under-17 title outplaying Ansh Jamwal of Oriental Academy in the final. The Results: Semifinals: Raman Kumar bt Harish Digra of GHS Raipur Satwari; Ansh Jamwal of Oriental Academy bt Jatinder Pal Singh of New National HSS. The Under-14 title went to Shivam Singh of GHSS Simbal Camp who beat Vansh of St. Xavier. The Results: Semifinals: Vansh Suraj of GMS Kangrail; Shivam bt Sanju of GMS Deeli.
TABLE TENNIS: In Table Tennis under-14 and under-17 events preliminary round of the competition took place today. The Results: Under-14: Jodhmal Public School beat Heritage Public School 3-0; GD Goenka beat KC Public School 3-0; DPS beat Cresent Public School 3-0; KC International beat MHAC Nagbani 3-0; JK Public School beat MIER 3-0; GD Goenka beat KC Gurkul 3-0.
UNDER-17: Model Academy beat Tiny Tots 2-0; APS Kallu Chak beat DBN Mubarak Mandi 2-0;
APS Domana beat New Oriental Academy 2-0; KC International beat GD Goenka 2-1; JK Public Kunjwani beat Divyan Public School 2-1; BSF Paloura beat Doon International 2-0; SOS International beat DBN 2-0.
BADMINTON: The opening day witnessed preliminary round of the competition in Under-14 and Under-17 categories. The Results: Under-14: DPS beat Tiny Tots 2-0; MIER beat APS Ratnu Chak 2-0;
Maha Reshi Vidya Mandir beat BSF School 2-0; APS Kaluchak beat SOS 2-0; St. Xavier beat KNIT 2-0.
The opening day competition officiated by the technical penal including Sanjay Khajuria, Vikram Jamwal, Vishal Bharti, Tarun Pal Singh, Amit Kalsi, Kamal Singh, Sunil Kumar, Sunny Dogra, Gurbachan Singh, Anil Dogra and Ravinder Singh.
