Eastern region to become growth engine of developed India: PM

Bhagalpur, Feb 24 :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the eastern region would become a growth engine to achieve the cherished goal of making India, a developed nation by the year 2047.
Addressing a farmers’ rally here after releasing Rs 22,000 crores, under the 19th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi Samman Yojana, Modi said that the eastern region had great potential to become the growth engine for achieving the cherished goal of a developed nation by the year 2047. Bihar would have an important place in the growth engine, he further said adding that India could not become a developed nation without the all-round development of the eastern region.
” PM Kisan Nidhi Samman Yojana was launched in 2019 and a total of Rs 3.70 lakh crore has been spent so far under this scheme”, PM said adding that the 75 lakh farmers’ families of Bihar were beneficiaries of the latest release of installment, involving expenditure of Rs 16,000 crore for the state. His government was giving a subsidy of Rs 12 lakhs crore to provide cheaper Urea and DAP to farmers of the country, he added. One bag of fertiliser was being made available to farmers at a price lower than Rs 300, he further added.
” National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management would be established in Bihar to boost the agriculture sector in the state “, Modi said adding that three Centre of Excellence would be established to improve the quality of agro produce. In Bhagalpur, the focus would be on Zardalu Mangoes while the quality of Tomatoes, Potatoes, and Onions would be focused in Centres to be established in Buxar and Munger respectively.
PM said that Bihar was among the top ten states of the country in fish production when his government was voted to power in 2014. Now Bihar had not only become self-dependent in fish farming but the state was now among the top five states of the country in fish production following sustained efforts of the NDA government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Centre, he pointed out.
