Jammu, July 12:
JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Friday emphasized on the need to extend all sorts of help to the poor and needy people while addressing prominent persons of Dilli area of RS Pura Jammu South constituency. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said Congress believes in the philosophy of equality and his Party always work for upliftment of poor people and devise policies for uplifting their living standard. He lambasted the present dispensation for inflicting sufferings on the poor and deprived classes and demanded such steps should be taken which would ease the living of poor masses. He also said, “Congress has been doing social works from time to time and always remains on the front line to help the needy persons indiscriminately.”
Highlighting achievements under Congress rule, Bhalla said “lots of revolutionary steps in Jammu & Kashmir were initiated to inculcate the spirit of unity, integrity, prosperity as well as brotherhood to work for overall development/welfare of the people of J&K, in general, and especially the downtrodden sections of the society in particular.” The educated youth of J&K is frustrated and hopeless as majority of them are getting over-aged and special employment packages should be extended to them by central govt, said Bhalla. He added that the business community of J&K has also suffered adversely and it has pinned high hopes on Congress for mitigation of their sufferings.
While speaking on the occasion, Bhalla urged upon the youth to get ready for playing a vital role to bring change. He said that the present scenario of J&K has pushed the youth towards depression and anxiety as they are worried about their future presently looming in darkness.”The people of J&K were promised that they will get jobs, development, peace, prosperity and many other things, but nothing happened on the ground and people are running from pillars to post to get their things done”, Bhalla lamented.Lauding the pro-people work done during the Congress rule, he said that his party leadership knew the ground realities and framed the policies in such a way that people of J&K irrespective of region, religion, caste and creed benefited equally. “Congress reads the pulse of people in the true sense of the term but the present government took all decisions in a hasty manner just to fulfill their political agenda,” he added.
“The law and order situation has deteriorated, the business community is incurring losses, unemployment rate is highest in the country, corruption and scams are happening everywhere, administrators & bureaucrats are not being held accountable.
This is the state of affairs in J&K,” Bhalla said.He said that people are being cheated under Smart City narrative and the condition of Jammu city is bad.
There are potholes all over the streets, drains are broken and when it rains, the entire city turns into flood hitting the normal life of commoners. Is this what Smart City is like, he asked, adding that Smart City is not made by installing Signs Boards, but by providing all kinds of facilities to the people, he said.
Bhalla alleged that the political party in power has totally spoiled the earning pattern of locals of Jammu as all the Govt works including contracts of sand, bajri, wine shops, and parking spots have been allotted to the people from outside JK UT jeopardizing the living standard of general public Jammu and Kashmir and drastically dwindling their livelihood. He further said that all the important positions in the UT Govt sector and universities have deliberately been given and occupied by officers from outside JKUT under a well knit conspiracy to make the lives of people here quite miserable with none to listen to their genuine grievances, he added.
Bhalla said that the time has come to defeat such forces and strengthen the hands of Congress for lasting peace in the Union Territory. Slamming present UT Rule for pushing J&K into dark era, former said that everybody is unhappy and restless under the present regime and eagerly waiting for conduct of Assembly elections to elect a popular government. He said, “Congress is the only party which believes in secularism and can fight for the rights of the downtrodden class of the society. Party has taken many historic decisions in the past for the welfare of the marginalized sections of the society.”Congress has served the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir with utmost honesty and dedication”, Bhalla added.
Bhalla further said that the last election was held in 2014 in Jammu and Kashmir and since then no election has been conducted depriving people of their constitutional and democratic rights. He said that India was called as mother of democracy but keeping people without elections for long is the murder of democracy and urged upon the Centre to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir without any delay. He further said that no democracy can survive without elections as popular government is the soul and people are its body. “The elections in Jammu and Kashmir had been conducted in the worst situations in the past and one cannot digest the excuse of the Centre that the situation is not conducive for elections”, he added.
