Prof. N.D.R. Chandra, Ex Vice Chancellor of Bastar University, Jagdalpur and Professor of English at Nagaland Central University delivered two lectures on New Criticism as well as Cyber Literature during Two Week Summer School-cum-FDP, organized by the School of Languages & Literature, SMVD University. In the former lecture, he threw light on the various differences between traditional and modern criticism and emphasized on the blurring of the boundaries between technology and literary discourse. He touched upon the various other concepts such as de-familiarization, deviation, foregrounding and alike. He also discussed some of the works of critics like Cleanth Brooks, T.S Eliot, I.A Richards and Allen Tate.
In the subsequent lecture, Prof Chandra deliberated on the current trend of Cyber Literature and its revolutionary impact on the present readers. He focused on the contemporary significance of the Classics, Cyber and indigenous literature to enhance the dimensions of our knowledge in the academic curriculum. The lecture familiarized the participants with the relevance of integrating global and local narratives, also known as Glocalization.
Prof. Chandra has been a Fulbright Nehru Senior Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Brown University, Providence and Wisconsin University, Madison USA. He was also a member of Chattisgarh State Higher Education Council from January 2014 to September 2016. He has authored 25 books and more than 100 research papers in reputed journals.
