Mumbai: Minutes after the BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis announced his resignation as the chief minister of Maharashtra, Congress demanded an apology.
“Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar should apologise to the people of Maharashtra. Their government was based on lies and defections and fell like a house of cards,” Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.
The Congress party said that the Fadnavis-Ajit government was based on lies and fell like a house of cards.
”The move was not only a failure of Fadnavis but also a slap on faces of their masters sitting in Delhi”, the party said.
Senior party leader KC Venugopal said, “This is a victory of constitutional democracy. They thought through horse-trading they can make government. This is not only a failure of Devendra Fadnavis but also a slap on the faces of their masters sitting in Delhi.”
Talking about the next course of action of the ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’, as the Cong-NCP-Sena collectively call themselves, NCP leader Nawab Malik said: ”Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray is our choice for the CM of Maharashtra”.
