JAMMU, Oct 10:
Faisal clinched the all important men’s singles title beating Gagandeep Singh in straight sets of 11-08, 11-07, 11-05 in the 29th District Poonch Table Tennis Championship, organised by the Poonch District Table Tennis Association at Government Degree College campus, here today.
The Junior boys title went to Ridhik, who trounced Zaffar Ahmed 3-2 (16-14, 06-11, 11-09, 05-11, 11-8) in a tough contest.
Deputy Commissioner Pooch, Rahul Yadav was the chief guest, who presented the title trophies and other individual prizes. He praised the members of the association for consecutively organising the championship and also popularising the game of table tennis in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Pooch, Ramesh Angral was guest of honour. He also congratulated the organisers for keeping the youth busy in sports activities and channelising their energies in positive direction.
Additional SP, Adil Hameed presided over the function.
Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Saleem Banday welcomed the distinguished guests and spoke in length about the activities of the association in the three decades.
Ajit Singh Jeet Jeet president of the association presented vote of thanks.
Dr. Khaleeq Anjum conducted the proceeding of the function with his beautiful couplets in professional way.
