Aiming at to educate the farmers about management of insect pests of vegetable crops, KrishiVigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today conducted one day farmer training programme for 17 participants at Village Satarwajanof the district on insect pest management of vegetables.
The programme was conducted by Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar under the guidance of Prof.AmrishVaidDirector Extension SKUAST Jammu. HajraBanoo, Agriculture Extension Officer Dadpeth and Firdous Ahmad Ganei, AEA also participated in the programme.
During the programmedeliberations were held by Dr Narinder Paulon scientific cultivation of major vegetable crops in general and their insect pest management in particular. Farmers raised queries regarding pest incidence in knolkhol, brinjal, chilly and tomatoes which were replied and management practices provided to them.
HajraBanoo, AEO Dadpeth sensitized the participants about different schemes being implemented by the department for farmers’ welfare. While answering aquery related to supply of subsidized seed to the farmers, she replied that maize and other seeds are being provided to the farmers at subsidized rates and seed is available in abundancein the zonal store.
Firdous Ahmad Ganaie cleared the farmers doubts related to the PM KissanSammnNidhi, and educated them about Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) being implemented by the department. Komal Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Abdul Sattar, Sunil Singh, Zakir Hussain, Tasina Begum, Salma Begum and other farmers participated in the programme. The programme ended with the distribution of hybrid vegetable seed among the participants.
