JAMMU, JUNE 06:
In a meaningful step towards women’s empowerment, the FICCI FLO Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh (JKL) Chapter today successfully organized the ‘Skill to Scale’ workshop in Muthi area of Jammu city, focusing on equipping women from cooperatives and self-help groups with practical, income-generating skills.
Curated and organized by Ms. Aarti Chowdhary, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL and led by Senior Vice Chairperson Ms. Varsha Bansal, the workshop was a vibrant example of community collaboration. Key support came from Ms. Varuna Anand, National Initiative Head – Partnerships and Collaborations, along with Vice Chairperson Ms. Rupika Sahai, Treasurer Ms. Sona Mehta, Joint Secretary Ms. Pooja Dewan, and other dedicated FLO members.
The workshop aimed to foster learning, creativity, and financial empowerment among women. Participants were taught the art of flower-making using discarded Katrana cloth—turning waste into beauty.
The hands-on session, led by Ms. Deepti Gandotra and Ms. Iruvanthika Chowdhary, was both creative and therapeutic, inspiring attendees with a newfound skill that holds potential for supplementary income.
Beyond skill-building, the event highlighted the value of upcycling and community collaboration. FLO members present reaffirmed the importance of shared growth and continuous engagement in such empowerment-driven initiatives.
Aarti Chowdhary, in her message, said “The ‘Skill to Scale’ workshop is a step towards creating sustainable opportunities for women by tapping into their creativity and resilience. By teaching the art of turning waste into beauty, we aim not only to provide a means of additional income but also to boost confidence and inspire self-reliance. The energy, enthusiasm, and participation of the women today was heartening, and it reaffirms our belief that with the right support and skills, every woman has the power to transform her life and her community.”
Aarti Chowdhary also expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Sh. Satish Sharma for his generous support in providing the venue at his residence near the Director Education Office, Muthi. His involvement demonstrated the crucial role of institutional support in grassroots initiatives, she added.
The Skill to Scale workshop received enthusiastic participation and media appreciation, and its success is expected to pave the way for more such impactful sessions in the near future, nurturing a culture of empowerment, creativity, and self-reliance among women in the region.
