Fighters win U-17 boys gold in Rollball

JAMMU, February 14:
Fighters clinched under-17 boys’ title while Deccan finished second in the two-day Jammu District Rollball League Championship held under the banner of Rollball Association of J&K at Skating Rink, MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the remaining two league outings, Fighters defeated Deccan 1-0 while held the opponent to a 5-5 in other game today. In under-14 boys, Roller Starts won gold and Dare Devils remained runners up to bag silver medal. Similarly, in girls under-14 group, Rising Stars emerged winner while Dynamic secured silver. A stiff competition was there in the senior category with Red Bulls and Black Panthers declared joint winners. In today’s last league tie, Red Bulls defeated Black Panthers 13-11.The senior girls’ gold went to Sharp Shooters, who beat Royal Queen 2-1 in the decider.Chairman of the Rollball Association of J&K, Anil Sharma was chief guest, who witnessed the matches and then presented medals to the winners and runners-up teams.
Earlier, the Association paid tributes to those martyrs of CRPF in deadly bomb explosion in Pulwama, Kashmir two years back. “On February 14, the Pakistan sponsored militants attacked on the CRPF convoy. To pay our respects and tributes to the martyrs, players, their parents and the office bearers of the Association lit candles at the Skating Rink,” informed general secretary of the Association, Madhu Sharma.
