Filmmakers & Cinematographers conduct hands-on training

The second day of the Three-Day Workshop on Post-Production Techniques, organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Jammu, witnessed renowned filmmakers and cinematographers Brajesh Mishra and Atul Vinod Duggal conducting hands-on training sessions for students.
The sessions focused on advanced editing techniques, providing participants with practical insights into the nuances of post-production in the film and media industry.
Earlier, on the day of the workshop, Prof Garima Gupta, Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies welcomed and introduced both the resource persons to the students.
She said that this workshop is designed to provide industry-oriented training to help the students gain a comprehensive understanding of post-production workflows.
“By working directly with experienced professionals, students shall develop critical technical skills essential for careers in journalism, filmmaking, and digital media,” Prof Gupta said.
In his session, Brajesh Mishra shared his expertise on narrative editing, sequencing, and visual storytelling, emphasizing the impact of editing on the final output of a production.
He demonstrated various editing styles and techniques used in cinematic storytelling, helping students understand how to enhance the emotional and visual appeal of their work.
Atul Vinod Duggal, in his separate session, introduced students to technical aspects of editing software, color grading, and sound design. He also highlighted the importance of pacing and rhythm in video editing, illustrating real-world examples from his work in the industry.
Others present on the occasion included Prof Dushyant Kumar Rai, Dr Pardeep Singh Bali, Dr Ramiyan Bhardwaj and Kumerjit Chajgotra.
