Srinagar, Dec 10 :
Two residential quarters of the Member Legislative Assembly Hostel (MLA) in Srinagar were damaged in a fire incident on Tuesday, officials said.
There was no report of any casualty in the incident as the residents were safely evacuated from the hostel building soon after the incident.
The Fire and Emergency officials said that a fire broke out at around noon on the first floor of one of the quarters of the MLA hostel building and engulfed another one situated at the busy Maulana Azad Road, Srinagar causing severe damage to the property.
“The fire was caused due to the blast of the compressor of the Air-conditioner in one of the rooms of the hostel”, they said.
Soon after the incident, several fire tenders were rushed from the city centre fire stations to the spot to extinguish the leaping flames.
“It took a couple of hours for the fire-fighting men to control the fire”, they added.
