The first phase of randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for Lok Sabha Elections was done here today under the supervision of District Election Officer (DEO), Vikas Kundal in presence of AROs and representatives of political parties.
While highlighting the importance of randomization, DEO said that the process is to ensure free and fair polls with no human intervention as the randomisation is being done by dedicated software for the purpose.
DEO also briefed the political representatives about the randomisation process and assured them that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure free and fair polls.
He further said that after randomization, EVMs will be allocated to the respective assembly constituencies where they will be kept under tight security and protection for further randomisation for allocation of EVMs to polling stations which will be done in next phases.
He also added that 20% of the total EVMs allocated to each polling station will be kept reserve to meet any contingency during the polling day.
Earlier, Returning Officer of Udhampur Parliamentary constituency, Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting with Assistant Returning Officers regarding smooth conduct of Parliamentary Elections.
All the AROs were apprised of their responsibilities for the smooth and fair conduct of general elections and were impressed upon to strictly follow the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and work in coordination for free and fair conduct of elections.
Deputy District Election Officer, Ashwani Kumar, Nodal Officer Helpline & Control Room, Amar Jyoti Raina, Nodal Officer Media/Communication, Parshotam Dass, District Informatics Officer, Sourav Bhandari and Election Naib Tehsildar were also present on the occasion.
