Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for befooling the masses by mere sloganeering, the Congress party has asked the former to come clean on scrapping of controversial Articles 35-A and 370 of Constitution of India, which guarantee special status to the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
A meeting of the District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu was held here today under the Presidentship of Sh. Vikram Malhotra, wherein various vital issues were discussed threadbare.
While addressing the meeting, Sh. Vikram Malhotra pointed out that the BJP has fought two consecutive Parliamentary elections by declaring to scrap the controversial Articles 35-A and 370 if they win elections but later they didn’t pay heed to the same and keeping mum over these issues.
He also asked the BJP leadership to clear their stance on delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Jammu & Kashmir well before announcement of elections in the State.
The Congress leader further asked the BJP to clear their stand on all these important issues, which have great impact on the future of the State and the country.
“They should come clean and give specific time frame that when they will start their process to resolve these issues,” Sh. Vikram Malhotra said, adding, “There is a Presidential notification on Article 35-A and the BJP should not use these issues as mere election slogans.”
“They always try to befool people by raking up similar issues at the time of elections and now the BJP should tell the people of Jammu that when they will set a time frame for abrogation of Article 35-A and 370, and also delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Jammu & Kashmir,” he reiterated.
Besides, expressing grave concern over the plight of the people of Jammu during these hot summer days, Sh. Vikram Malhotra urged the Governor’s administration as well as the Department of Power Development (PDD) to not to enforce unscheduled power cuts in the region.
He further urged the Government to take further steps to resolve prevailing power crisis in the State, especially in the Jammu region, which is under the grip of harsh summers.
