Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday condemned the alleged forcible interfaith marriage of Sikh girl with an elderly man in the Kashmir Valley.
While interacting with a Sikh members’ delegation which called on the BJP leader at his residence, he said that such unwarranted actions under a well knit conspiracy by some unscrupulous elements in the Valley will not be tolerated and he will soon take up the matter with the concerned quarters in the government to safeguard the rights of minorities in J&K.
The deputation, reposing faith in the leadership of Kavinder Gupta, expressed gratitude to the BJP leader for rightfully projecting their issues in the All Party Meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on June 24, 2021. The delegation reiterated the demand of implementing Minority Act in Jammu and Kashmir on the lines of other states of the country as the same has been implemented across the country.
After giving a patient hearing to the delegation, Kavinder assured that he will continue to highlight the demands of Sikh community before the concerned quarters of the government and will ensure that all the demands are addressed at the earliest. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has a glorious history of communal bonhomie and those who are trying to create fissures among communities will be dealt befittingly by the government with iron hands as PM Modi is aware of the nefarious designs of those having vested interests. He said that no one in J&K will be allowed to vitiate the peaceful environments as amity and tolerance are the part of rich legacy of the people of UT.
