Former CS declares open election awareness week

A week-long general election awareness campaign 2019 was declared open by former Chief Secretary, BR Kundal at RM Public School Chowadi, here today.
The event, is dedicated to the public, as, “I am commited to cast vote,” as part of nation building awareness campaign, organised by J&K Rural Sports Club, a Jammu based NGO in collaboration with RM Public School and Shiksha Niketan School.
The inaugural function, on first day of the campaign, started with a seminar on the topic, “How to create vote awareness amongst public”.
Chief guest, BR Kundal in his exclusive lecture for more than one hour, followed by question answer session dealt with all aspects of the subject minutely starting from its causes, effects, repercussions, impacts as well as remedies with regard to their political, social, economic and legal angles and advised the people for mass participation in the coming festival of democracy.
President of the host Rural Sports Club, Narinder Singh highlighted the objectives of the club with regard to the campaign through the medium of education, sports and cultural activities during the week long programme.
Chairman of the Environment Advisory Committee, Pritam Singh informed the audience that we struggled continuously for 90 years and our elders sacrificed their lives for attaining this right to vote.
Chairman, RM Public School and Shiksha Niketan Group of Schools, Rameshwar Mengi exalted students for acting as ambassadors for spreading the message to the voters for exercising their votes by educating them about the value of their vote.
Earlier, Trustee, Rita Mengi and Principal of RM Public School, Ravinder Kour welcomed the chief guest, organizers and guests.
Later, the chief guest also declared open the sports event and a friendly badminton match was played between school and club members.
Prominent among others present were Gurmeet Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Barinder Singh, Pankaj Samyal, Naresh Kumar, Ramesh Kumar and Parshotam Sharma.
On the second day of the event, badminton matches shall be played on knock-out basis at Shiksha Niketan School Jeevan Nagar from 9 am onwards, informed event organiser, Ravtej Singh.
