JAMMU, Oct 17:
At an impressive Prize Distribution function to mark the culmination of the colourful Navratra Festival at Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Gandhinagar, the winners of various Competitions were honoured with Cash awards, certificates and mementoes. In all,15 schools participated in the different competitions on religious subjects during the Festival.
The President, Lakshmi Narayan Temple Management Trust, Th. Gulchain Singh presided over the Function. The owners of Shri Vardhwan Jewelers, Ramesh Jain and Gajan Jain who instituted cash awards for these contests were the Special Guests. Secretary of the Trust, S. C. Rekhi also present.
One of the Trustees and former member J&K Public Service Commission, K. B. Jandial also contributed for cash awards for one contest.
The First prize was of Rs. 2000, second prize of Rs. 1500 and third prize was of Rs. 1000. Consolation prize where ever announced was of Rs. 500. Besides, Certificates and Mementoes were also given to the winners.
In the competition of “Maa Durga Ke Nauh Darshan”,Dogra Hr. Sec. School, Shastri Nagar bagged the First Prize while the second prize went to Rich Harvest, Shastrinagar, and third prize to Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana. Consolation prize was given to S.D. Tarapuri School, Gandhinagar.
In Rangoli Contest, the first prize went to Govt. Girls High School, Gandhinagar while Shastri Shiksha Kendra got the second and S. D. Tarapuri School Gandhinagar third. A third class student, Kavya Gupta of Convent School was awarded consolation prize.
Humanity Public School, Bari Brahmana bagged first prize in Bhajan competition category while second and third prizes went to Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana, and Dogra Hr. Sec. School, Shastri nagar. Consolation prize was given to Dogra College of Education.
In category of Garba dance contest, First prize was bagged by S. D. Tarapuri School, Gandhinagar while Govt. Girls High School, Gandhinagar got the second prize. Dogra College of Education students were given a special prize.
In another contest, Scenes from Ramayana, Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana got first prize and Dogra Hr. Secondary School, Shastrinagar second prize.
Mr. Charak also lauded the performances of a team of five Comparers- Shallu Sharma, Harpreet Kour, Balbir Kour, Sheetal Basotra and Ujala Chauhan. They were presented Mementoes in recognition of outstanding comparing during the Festival.
Thanking participation of devotees in the Festival, Charak also commended the hard work done by the various Trustees without their cooperation the Festival would not have been a grand success.
