A third year engineering student of Mahant Bachitter Singh College of Engineering and Technology (MBS) joined by a Delhi Public School (DPS) student have together brought out a news magazine titled ‘The Art Effect’ in Jammu and Kashmir State. Namandeep Singh Dua and Mehak Dua who also happen to be brother-sister have dedicated this magazine solely to different forms of art and believe that the magazine will try its best to cover art, languages and culture of all three regions of state besides incorporating other subjects under different categories.
The monthly news magazine titled ‘The Art Effect’ was today launched at Press Club, Jammu wherein former minister Mrs Priya Sethi graced the occasion and launched the magazine. Ashwani Kumar, President Jammu Press Club, Arvinder Singh Aman, Additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art, culture and languages and senior advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmad were also present and released the magazine in presence of guests drawn from different sections of society.
Appreciating the work of young students for taking out a dedicated magazine to art and culture, Priya Sethi said that launch of such a Magazine connects civilisations and bring people on a single platform.
She emphasised that such a platform was need of need where culture of all three regions of Jammu and Kashmir can be brought on same page. In today electronic world bringing out such a magazine is like swimming against current but given the contents of magazine there seems to be an immense potential of such an endeavour into the world of journalism, she asserted.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Kumar, president Jammu Press Club appreciated the work of Namandeep Singh Dua and Mehak Dua and said that hard work and dedication is needed to take this publication to new heights.
He said since financial aspect of this venture is also required to be taken into care the art lovers and civil society must ensure that such types of publications are encouraged. He extended his support and added that Press Club will also do whatever can be done to support the magazine.
Arvinder Singh Aman in his address said that this dedicated magazine will go a long way in giving exposure to art, culture and languages of Jammu and Kashmir and said that academy has a lot of subjects that needs right platform this magazine seems to be one such medium.
He wished the team of The Art Effect good luck in their endeavour said that it should be made a platform for dissemination of ideas on art world. He said this magazine should become a platform to encourage artists into all fields.
Namandeep Singh and Mehak Dua in their address said, “All the world’s a stage” is the phrase that begins a monologue from William Shakespeare’s As You Like It. The speech compares the world to a stage and life to a play its established that there’s art in everything that we do. Namandeep added that The art of painting, art of healing, art of speaking, art of politicking, art of designing, art of fashion and everything else we do is an ART.
This is the reason we at The Art Effect will cover every subject under different categories of Art and try to connect with our readers though this medium. Mehak Dua sought cooperation of people of Jammu and Kashmir in making their own magazine a grand success. A vote of thanks was presented by Sheikh Shakeel Ahmad who laid stress on strengthening composite culture of Jammu. He said the magazine will contribute to promote Dogra art, culture and language besides culture of other regions and become a true platform for dissemination of ideas through this medium.
He complimented the editorial team of magazine for launching a beautiful magazine that has all the ingredients of being an effective medium of communication.
