In continuation of the SVEEP activities, the GGM Science College Jammu organised a friendly T- 20 cricket match at JKCA hostel ground under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta for creating awareness among the students and their importance in their participation in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir General Assembly Elections. The match was organised between 5th Semester team (captained by Mohd Sajad) and 3rd/Ist Semester team (captained by Mr. Sujal Sharma).In the beginning, the Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta interacted with the players of both the teams, inspired them about the spirit of true sportsmanship and made them realised vibrant tapestry of Indian democracy where every citizen holds a brush to shape the future of the nation by casting their votes. He also applauded the efforts of sports department and SVEEP cell for organising the cricket match. He also appreciated JKCA staff for the arrangements regarding the match.Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma incharge Cricket game, emphasised on the virtues of honest sportsmanship during the event and advised the players to follow the rule in the upcoming assembly elections in choosing the right candidate by casting their votes irrespective of caste, creed, colour and religion. He also apprised that the top 15 performers would be selected for the final college cricket team. The cricket match was won by Vth Semster team and Mr. Kartik Mehra students of Semester V was declared Man of the match. In first inning by Winning toss Semester-III elected to bat and gave a target of 108 runs, Dilshant Thakur Score 50 while from 5th Semester Kartik Mehra and Rahul Thakur took 03 wickets each, Nitin took 02 wickets and Sachin took 01 Wicket. In reply Vth Semester scored 109 runs easily in 11.5 overs by loosing two wickets, Sajjad Score 41 Jatin Score 34, Bhupinder and Raghav Salathia took 01 wicket each. The winning team was congratulated by Principal for their shining performance. The entire proceedings of the match were coordinated by Dr. Arun Sharma (Member Sports committee) and Prof. Vishal Sharma (Member SVEEP cell).
