The NSS and NCC units of GGM Science College, in collaboration with the Civil Defense Organization, Jammu, organized a One-Day Awareness Programme focused on disaster preparedness, safety measures, and first aid. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, who emphasized the importance of safety awareness in today’s fast-paced world. Prof. Gupta highlighted that such initiatives are crucial in equipping students with the practical skills necessary to handle emergencies, thereby contributing to their overall development and service to the community. The session, held in the college’s Conference Hall, focused on training attendees in essential life-saving skills such as CPR, wound management, disaster evacuation techniques, and basic firefighting measures. The session was led by officials from Civil Defense Jammu, including Mr. Paramjeet Kumar, Chief Warden; Mr. Vijay Magotra, Deputy Chief Warden; Mr. Sandeep Bhat, Sector Warden; and Mr. Parshotam Kumar and Mr. Rajinder Kumar, Instructors. The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Dr. Parshotom Singh Manhas, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr. Sumiksha Thakur, Prof. Mehnaz Bano, Dr. Arun Sharma, and Prof. Akansha Sharma, whose active participation contributed to the programme’s success. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Devendra Kumar Sharma, ANO NCC, NSS Programme Officers Dr. Rahul Kait and Dr. Neha Sharma, and Prof. Yasmeen Mughal, Convenor, Women Development Cell. The proceedings of the event were efficiently carried out by Mr. Ayoub Jan and Mr. Sayed Ali Hassan, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all attendees.
