JAMMU, May 10:
Inviting president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and former Joint Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC), Shiv Kumar Sharma as main speaker, Government Higher Secondary School hosted one-day Sports Awareness Camp at Moungri in district Udhampur.
As per the reports reaching here, Shiv Kumar Sharma, a prominent sports promoter, social activist and president Senior Citizens Welfare Forum (Katra) spread the message of sports among young students and encouraged those budding talent of the school.
The programme mainly focused on the sports activities and unfolded the untold stories of many successful Indian athletes.
In his special lecture, Shiv Kumar Sharma also touched the importance of moral values in a student’s life.
He told the gathering that a celebrity sportsperson always remains a disciplined individual in life.
“Sports teaches discipline, unity and develop at a very young age the winning mind set with focused attention on the specific pre planned goals and targets,” Shiv Sharma told the young gathering of students.
To further boost those outstanding students in the field of sports and culture, Shiv Kumar felicitated and encouraged them.
These students were
Vishal Bhagat (Volleyball), Yash Pal (Kabaddi), Varsha and Mamta (Cultural activities).
Recipient of President’s Medal and Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence Udhampur, Advocate Swatanter Dev Kotwal also delivered lecture and sensitized the students about the moral values and drugs abuse.
Earlier, Incharge Principal, Baldev Singh welcomed the distinguished gathering while Swatanter Dev Kotwal conducted the proceedings and vote of thanks extended by Sarpanch Hans Raj Thakur.
The participating students were also distributed refreshment by Incharge Principal, Baldev Singh.
Prominent among those present were Ashwani Katoch (Principal Amba Kids School Panthal), Naib Sarpanch Moungri (Shamsher Singh), veteran prominent wrestlers , Kartar Singh, Balbir Singh an Jai Pakash Singh as also the staff of th host school.
Appeal to DG DYSS
Meanwhile, Shiv Sharma appealed has asked Director General Youth services and Sports (DYSS), Dr. Saleen -ur- Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla, Joint Director (DYSS) Jammu, Madan Lal and District officer (DYSS) Udhampur, Kharti Lal Sharma to provide two Physical Education Teachers (PETs) at Government higher Secondary School Moungri on priority basis as the students of this institution continue to suffer in view of the vacancies since long.
