Government Nursing College Kishtwar Commemorates International Nurses Day

The Government Nursing College (GNC) Kishtwar marked the celebration of International Nurses Day today with fervor and enthusiasm at TRC Kishtwar.
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Kishtwar, Ghulam Rasool was the chief guest, while Dr. Medical Superintendent District Hospital Dr Yudhvir Kotwal was the Special Guest.
The event saw active participation from the students of GNC, engaging in a variety of activities including cultural performances, singing, speeches, and dramatic presentations.
The ADDC commended the faculty of GNC for organizing such a remarkable event, acknowledging the pivotal role played by nurses in the society.
Additionally, the ADDC presented trophies to the examination toppers, recognizing their outstanding achievements.
Other Speakers at the event shed light on the historical significance of nursing, tracing its roots back to ancient times, and emphasized Florence Nightingale’s pivotal role in shaping the profession as we recognize it today.
International Nurses Day, celebrated annually on May 12th, commemorates the birth anniversary of Florence Nig htingale, the pioneer of modern nursing.
Despite being the backbone of the healthcare sector, nurses often go unrecognized for their invaluable contributions, emphasised the speakers.
International Nurses Day serves as a reminder to acknowledge and appreciate the tireless efforts of nurses worldwide.
Initiated by the International Council of Nurses in 1974, the day aims to raise awareness among policymakers and the public about the indispensable role nurses play in modern healthcare.
