Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University of Jammu, has congratulated Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of the University, and his colleagues for securing a grant of Rs. 100 crore under phase II of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The University has been able to secure this coveted grant on account of being declared one of the 12 category I Universities in the country which have been granted Graded Autonomy by UGC. It may be recalled that University of Jammu has been graded by NAAC as an A+ university and has been securing a place among top hundred universities of the country under NIRF: 64th position in 2016, 63rd in 2017 and 51st in 2018. It is the only University in the State which has qualified to receive a special grant. The financial grant, given to 10 select State Universities in the country under Phase II of RUSA, is meant for quality enhancement and improvement in teaching and research and for mentoring other institutions. Lauding the achievement of University of Jammu, Governor has urged the Vice-Chancellor to strive for maintaining the highest standards of excellence in teaching and learning in this institution.
