JAMMU, APR 25:
Making a fervent appeal to the state government of plugging all routes being used by Drug Mafia to bring drugs into the state thereby spoiling the future of younger generation, Team Jammu today demanded time bound framing of rules under NDPSA to facilitate early establishment of sufficient number of drugs de-addiction centres across the state.
These views were aired by the Members of Team Jammu during a meeting held at its head office, under the chairmanship of Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
They demanded that the state government must plug all those routes being used to bring drugs into the state. They further expressed their views that unless the routes are completely plugged, the drug menace, which is growing at a fast pace in the society, cannot be eradicated from the state.
While addressing the Members, Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that, “though off late, but, finally, the government has constituted a high level committee headed by Administrative Secretary, Finance Deptt with representatives of Home, Health and Social Welfare deptts as Members, to frame rules under NDPSA to facilitate establishment of sufficient number of drugs de-addiction centres across the state. But the same may not see the light of the day, if it is not directed to frame rules in a specific time period”.
Pointing out the formation of such committees in past as well but with no positive outcome, Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal stated, ” “Moreover, two divisional level Anti-Narcotics Task Force, vide another Order No.398-GAD of 2004, dated March 16, 2004, have also failed to make the collective and rigorous efforts to check drug trafficking in the State,” Jamwal further pointed out that only time bound framing of rules and its early implementation can help eradication of drug menace from society. Among others who participating in the meeting included, Rajesh Kapoor, Chandan Dutta, Rajesh Chandan, Narinder Sharma, Arun Jojra, Guga Verma, Sumit Dusgotra, Yogesh Kumar, Sunil Raipuria, Ashok Kumar, Akshay Gupta, Raju Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Bhanu Partap Singh Jamwal and Pradeep Sharma.
